Erectile Dysfunction, commonly known as E.D., refers to the inability to achieve and sustain a firm erection for a satisfying sexual experience.

Understanding how an Erection Occurs:
An erection happens when increased blood flow enters the penis. It ends when the muscles in the blood vessels tighten, allowing accumulated blood to exit through the penile veins.

What Leads to E.D.?
Emotional Factors: Stress, anxiety, depression, performance anxiety & relationship problems
Medical Factors: Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, low testosterone, hormone imbalances, kidney disease, age, certain medications, alcohol, smoking etc.

E.D. Symptoms:
Trouble getting & keeping an erection, Decreased sexual desire, Premature or Delayed ejaculation,Anorgasmia – inability to achieve orgasm after stimulation.

Treatment for E.D.:
Oral medications can enhance blood flow to the penis, aiding E.D. treatment. Examples include avanafil (Stendra), sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis).

Testosterone Replacement Therapy:
If you have low testosterone levels, this therapy might be necessary.
Note: E.D. medications can have side effects, so doctor consultation is essential.

Relationship Counseling:
Seeking the help of a relationship counselor can assist in reconnecting emotionally, which may, in turn, improve E.D.

Kegel exercises aim is to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. To perform these, try stopping the flow of urine midstream, hold it for 3 seconds, and then release. Repeat this exercise 10 to 20 times in a row, three times per day.

Herbs & Supplements:
Certain herbs and supplements helps in E.D. treatment, including Shatavari, dehydroepiandrosterone, ginseng, yohimbe, and Zinc.

Preventing E.D.:
Manage medical conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes.
Engage in regular exercise and maintain a healthy weight.
Focus on a nutritious diet, reduce stress & have good sleep.
Quit smoking and alcohol in moderation.

Remember, occasional erection difficulties aren’t necessarily a cause for concern. However, if you’ve been experiencing E.D. symptoms for an extended period, consult your doctor as soon as possible.
